If you want to preserve your image you should only change the Density property of the image. First you will need to get the width: 9 * 72 = 648. And if you want 2" you should divide 648 by 2 and set that as the density: 648 / 2 = 324 DPI. If you want it to be exactly 300 DPI you will need to resize your image. That means in this case you will need to resize your image from 648 to 600. Have you tried to use the Resample method?
